I am a DONA-certified birth doula, which means that I have completed training
and certification with the world's foremost Doula organization.
Please contact me for pricing info and availability.
My services include:
* At least one prenatal visit to get acquainted and go over your preferences
* Access to me 24/7 by phone throughout your pregnancy and the
postpartum period (okay really ages 0-18!) to answer questions or discuss
concerns
* Early labor support and assistance in recognizing "real" labor by phone or
an in-home visit
* Help in creating a birth plan
* Ensuring a peaceful environment
* Continuous care and support during active labor
* Assistance in determining when to leave for the hospital
* Support through unexpected outcomes (i.e. c-section)
* Breastfeeding support and pointers (I have exclusively breastfed my own
three children, and have some basic training in breastfeeding assistance. I will
assist you in locating a lactation consultant or lactation counselor if
professional assistance would be helpful.)
* At least one postpartum visit
My services DO NOT include:
Just as important as what I will do is what I will not do. As a doula I do not
perform vaginal exams, fetal heart checks or any other clinical tasks. I do not
make decisions for you. I will help you get the information you need to make
an informed choice but the decision to accept or decline a procedure or
intervention must be yours, and yours alone. I do not speak to the medical
staff on your behalf regarding matters where decisions are being made. I will
discuss your concerns with you and suggest options or sources of
information, but you and your partner will speak on your own behalf to clinical
staff.
I expect the following from you:
* Participation in childbirth classes
* Tour your birth place
* A written birth plan
* Timely payment for services to be rendered
* A phone call when you even think you’re in labor. Call even if you do not yet
need me, even if it’s in the middle of the night. This will give me ample time to
be available for you. I can answer questions and give suggestions over the
phone. Once it’s decided you need me, I usually need one to two hours to get
to you from the time you ask me, depending on your location, time of day,
traffic, etc. We will also decide where to meet, your home or your birthplace.
Fee Agreement & Payment Terms:
My fee for the services outlined above is dependent on various factors (such
as your location, and the location of your birth place). In an effort to ensure
that you will have my undivided attention during your birth, I will only book two
clients per calendar month, and each client’s EDD will be at least 10 days
apart from all other clients’ EDDs. In order to reserve a spot, I require a 50%
non-refundable deposit. The remaining 50% of my fee is due no less than 30
days before your EDD. As payment for both the deposit and balance, I accept
cash, check, PayPal, and all major credit cards. For details of the many
